The quickest and most convenient way to travel from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to Dong Hoi and Phong Nha is by flying with Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, or VietjetAir to Dong Hoi Airport, and then taking a private transfer from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha.
Both bus and train journeys are too long to be practical options for those looking to travel quickly between the two cities. However, for those on a budget and with a bit more time, the cheapest flights are often available from HCMC to Da Nang or Hue (which are typically cheaper than flying directly to Dong Hoi). From Da Nang or Hue, you can catch a train to Dong Hoi or take a direct bus to Phong Nha.
